The drillers on the Martin Vanest oil well, after reaching the depth of near four hundred feet, were unfortunate to break their drill. They got some fishing tools and got the broken tools out in about half an hour. They are now ready for drilling again. A Mr. Rider of Pittsburg has procured a block of land south due east of our town and will begin drilling within the next forty days. Mr. Decker has completed drawing the casing in the Steward & Smith well and will remove the tools to near Lewisville. One of the most prominent oil drillers from the Jackson Ridge field has moved to our town where he will still continue active oil operations.

C. N. Mallory of Decatur, Ill., was in this part of the county among friends. He had been called to near Glencoe on account of the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary A. Morrison, who had lived near Beallsville most of her life and was a well respected woman.

Our township trustees met recently for the purpose of employing a physician to treat the poor of the township for one year. There were only two bids. One at thirty-five dollars and the other one was forty dollars per year.

We are sorry to announce that W. H. Hutchison, who is one of our most relabel citizens and who has been ill for a long time, will move to his daughters in Bellaire in the near future.

Mr. Decker, our oil driller, will move to Lewisville in the near future, where he expects to continue his employment.

Emmet Miller and William Phillips, who have been farmers, have moved into town to take things easy.

Our farmers are very busy trying to catch up with their work which has been delayed by bad weather.

William Blue, who hash been sick for so long, has so far recovered that he is able to be at his shop.

Ross Montgomery has sold his cigar plant to Dunlee & Bridegroom.

Mann Reed of Barnesville is visiting his bother, Dr. J. W. Reed.

The wheat crop makes a fine promise.
