My Great Grandfather John BERRY married Joanna HOBBS in Monroe Co. About(
1846 or 1847? ) I am aware that the court house burned and that a lot of
the records were lost . Is there any other place that this marriage might
be recorded. Her father was George HOBBS of Sunsbury Township and his father
was Daniel BERRY of Wayne Township ( Belmont Co. ) They lived in Adams

about the CLARK's except her father was probably Henry. John Henry SHIPLEY's
parents were John Calvin SHIPLEY and Hester SISLER. Her parents were John
SISLER Sr. and Elizabeth ROISE (or RUISE). Also, Thomas KING's son George
married Martha E. PRINGLE in Monroe County.. Their son Gideon married Olive

I have made 2 trips to St. Clairsville to check on Isaac Meek who married
two sisters by the last name of Templeton. The last marriege is in the
census that I verified in the courthouse. The two sisters are buried in
the graveyard behind the courthouse, no idea where he is buried. Have had
no success in tracing these two women beyond a death certificate for Elizabeth
Templeton and I lost it. I do remember that she died at age 58. Am also
trying to get a line on Warren in this but information is practically nil.

have been his cousin, born circa 1855 in Louisiana. Her father is reported

married Daniel Hubbard in 1880. George married Charlotte ? In 1860 the
family lived in Bethel and by 1880 they lived in Washington Township. Interested

HENTHORN, RANDALL, MARTIN, ELDER - HENTHORN, RANDALL, MARTIN Seeking
information about Stephen HENTHORN and his wife Sarah RANDALL. Their son
Washington HENTHORN was born about 1835 in Monroe Co., Ohio. Washington
married Mary "Polly" MARTIN. Polly was born in Ohio Oct. 1833. She may
have been buried March 1913 in Sylvan, Richland Co., Cemetery. Washington
HENTHORN and Polly MARTIN had a daughter named Sarah E. HENTHORN born in
Monroe Co., Ohio in 1855. The MARTIN family were Native Americans. This
HENTHORN family moved to Richland/Crawford Co. Wisconsin. Some of their
earlier destinations had been South Dakota and Minnieska, Wabasha/Winona,
Minnesota. Sarah E. HENTHORN m. Andrew J. Elder in Crawford Co., Wisconsin

MC GREGOR - Alexander Washington MC GREGOR born in Cardington (Monroe
Co) Ohio on February 22, 1829. I am looking for any records of Alexander
or his older brother John MC GREGOR
WISE, YOUNG, ANTIL, RUCKER, CARPENTER - I am looking for descendents
of Jacob Wise, Sr. Arrived Monroe county, approx 1812. Had sons, Jonathan,
Jacob, James, George, Joseph, Margaret, possibly two other daughters and
another son. Margaret married John Hamilton, 1816. Jonathan married 1st
Virginia Young, 2nd Martha Antil, Jacob m. Mary Rucker, James m. Lucinda
Carpenter. My line is descended through Jonathan. He had a large family,
18 children by his two wives. He died in 1859 in West Virginia, but just
across the border from Monroe county. They moved there approximately 1854.
I have a copy of his Will. I also have alot of info on the other Wise lines
there. Look forward to hearing from some descendents.
POULTON, CORWYN - William Poulton enlisted in Captain Corwyn's Company
(Company K) of the 78th Ohio Volunteer Infantry at Atlas, Ohio (Monroe
County) on 18 November, 1861. He was discharged on 10 November 1862 as
a Corporal. Any information about either CPL Poulton, or relatives who
served in the 78th OVI would be appreciated.
REED/REYNOLDS - Looking for Robert REED married to Lucinda BARNES
first. After Lucinda's death he married Mirah REYNOLDS. Mirah and Robert
married abt 1855. Mirah was quite a bit younger than Robert and she was
born 1826. Mariah's father was William R. REYNOLDS and her mother may have

MATHESS / BOWEN - I am looking for information regarding James Stanton
MATHESS and his wife Margaret BOWEN. The only information I have regarding
them is that they were froom Monroe County, OH, and that they were living
in Paden City or Sisterville, WV in 1898 when their daughter Manila Bay
MATHESS was born. The family has been in WV since that time, but no one
seems to have any information on the origins of the MATHESS or BOWEN lines.
I am willing to share all info that I have on the current lines. I also
have WILLIAMSON and EBERHART information that I will share.

FOSTER, WHEEDON - FOSTER, WHEEDON FAMILY GENEALOGY Looking for information
on Clark Foster b. 1790 in Onondega or Washington Co., NY. Moved to Monroe
County, Ohio ca. 1857. Had a brother Allen Foster b. 1778 m. Patience Earl
and also came to Monroe County, OH about the same time.. Three of Clark's
children, Sylvia (b. 1818), Stephen D.(b. 1816) and Catherine(b. 1825)
m. Jet WILLIAMS are buried in Monroe County, somewhere around Kellogsville.
Looking for cemetery they are buried in. Clark's father's name was William
FOSTER (b. 1753) m. Patience _______(1774-75), probably in New York. William
FOSTER and his brother Vincent served in Rev. War from Dutchess Co., NY.
The remaining children of Clark FOSTER moved south to Talbot County, Georgia
and then to Macon (now Lee) County, Alabama. I have the Clark FOSTER family
bible and will be glad to share information on this family. Clark's son,
Lewis Allen FOSTER (b. 1812) built the house I now live in ca. 1835. Clark's
wife was Elizabeth WHEEDON (B. 1793 d. 1847) Looking for her grave also
in Monroe County.

PHILLIPS, GILLETTE - PHILLIPS - I am searching for information on
the family of Isaac and Nancy GILETTE PHILLIPS, who lived near Antioch.
Isaac was born February 11, 1811 in PA and died November 21, 1862 near
Antioch. Nancy's mother, Mary GILLETTE was born in PA in 1776 and died
in Monroe Co. June 9, 1857. Isaac and Nancy had 9 children that I know
of. These were Esra, William, Cassandra, Elizabeth, Israel, Joseph M.,
Margaret, Martha, and my GG Granmother Nancy Melinda. Several members of
the family moved to Kansas after the Civil War.

EVANS WHITE BAKER STEIN ROGERS DENBOW - Looking for information
on Mariah Anna Denbow, b1857, parents James and Rebecca Rogers Denbow.
Mariah married George Marion Evans in 1873. Evans family lived in Monroe
County at different points in time and included James (mid to late 1800's),
his son, George Marion , late 1800's and George's son, Clarence Nathan
who lived in Sycamore Valley in the early to mid 1900's. Also checking
on Nancy Ellen Baker, b 1875 to Elijah and Isabelle Stein Baker all of
whom lived at some time in Monroe County. I'll be happy to receive any
information and will gladly exchange any I have.

BOTT - BOTT - Looking for information for Jacob Bott born in 1865
in Woodsfield, Monroe, OH. He was buried in 1949 in Eaton Twp ,Lorain,
Ohio. He died about 1949. He was married to Christine STEIDENGER (daughter
of Jacob STEIDENGER and Rose REICH) on 23 Apr 1885. Christine STEIDENGER
was born on 10 May 1861 in Hittenburg, Germany. She died on 21 Dec 1938
in Elyria, OH. They had the following children: Clarence Daniel BOTTT was
born on 11 Nov 1896 in Woodsfield, Monroe, OH. He died on 13 Aug 1937 in
Elyria, Lorain, OH.
WELLS - I am researching the Wells family of Virginia/ Ohio/ Iowa/
California c. 1850. They include: James C. Wells ss Actious dau Nancy B.
James and Actious are my ggggrandparents. I have traced them through Linn
County, Iowa where they owned a farm c. 1860 on to Freemont Township, Saleno
County, California in 1866 when they executed a power of attorney naming
their son-in-law, Jacob Tisher, to handle their Iowa real estate holdings.
In the 1850 census for Ohio Twp., Monroe County, Ohio, Jacob and Nancy
B. are shown residing there with two children. The oldest being 5 yrs which
suggests Jacob and Nancy married before 1845. They were not in the 1860
census for Monroe County suggesting they an her parents had emigrated to
Iowa in the 1850s. In the 1850 Census, Nancy was shown being born in Virginia.
My guess is that it was in Ohio County across the river from where they
lived in Monroe County, Ohio.

son of Joshua PITTMAN and Leona GREY,born 8 May, year unknown, (guessing
mid 1800's)in Woodsfield.Married Sarah Lena POOLE ,born 15 October, year
unknown. Issue of this marraige are: Raymond Mancell, Thurmond George,
Lottie Hesther, Francis Estelle, Esther Mae, Eva Louella, Lillie Van Vesse,
Elma Jane, Celesta Ann, and Erma R. Minnie b. 6 Aug 1908. Am having a bit
of difficulty locating info on these particular individuals, probably because
of my lack of year dates. Jeremiah probably moved to Belmont County at
