I am seeking information on ALEXANDER BELL and CHRISTINA BELL. I believe
ALEXANDER BELL was a minister in Monroe Co. since I believe it is his grave
that is located in Brownsville, Ohio in a cemetery that may have a connection
to a Presbyterian or Methodist church. In the Monroe Co. Geneological Records
Vol. VI it was difficult to understand if they were buried in a Methodist
or a Presbyterian cemetery. I need to find out what religious affiliation
he may have been and any names of their children. I believe they may be
my great-great-great grandparents.

WINLAND, BAKER
Sarah WINLAND, b. 1807, daughter of Jacob and Margaret WINLAND, is
believed to be the first wife of Benjamin BAKER, married in 1824. They
had Louisa, Margaret, Jacob, and Elizabeth between 1825 and 1833. I would
like to find any documentation or confirmation of this marriage, and anything
on Sarah's death, I believe in the 1830s or 1840s. Benjamin remarried in
1844.
There were lawsuits over Jacob WINLANDs will (d. 1826, but I think
legal action was quite a bit later), and I believe perhaps legal papers
concerning the guardianship of Benjamin and Sarah's children after her
death. Peter Palmer, Sarah's sister's husband, became their guardian. Can
any of this be confirmed or documented, and if so I would appreciate knowing
the source of these documents and how to get my hands on them, where to
order a copy, etc.

LeBARON
My gg grandfather, Theodore H. LeBARON, moved to Clarington, Monroe
County, Ohio before 1860 from Wheeling, WV. Prior to living in Wheeling,
he lived in Allegheny City, PA from at least 1842 to 1850. Theodore was
a steamboat engineer working on the Ohio River. There were LeBARONs in
Monroe County until at least 1920 and my LeBARON family was the only LeBARON
family in the county. So if you encounter the LeBARON name in Monroe County,
it is my family. I am looking for information about the members of this
family including grave headstone inscriptions, occupations, school records,
modern descendants and any other information which is available. For example,
Theodore H. LeBARON was severly scalded by steam in a steamboat accident
around 1872 or there about. I wonder if this event was noted in any way
such as a newspaper article or other surviving record. George and Theodore
L. LeBARON were members of Company D of the 36th Ohio Volunteer Infantry
and I would welcome information about their service in this unit.
The surnames which interest me are: LeBARON, WHETAEL, KENNEAR,
HUBBARD, CRANDALL, McDANIEL, WALTON, ZESIER, SCHINDEHETTE. (Hugh has a
more detailed list. Please contact him
if you are interested in more information.)

McFARLAND
Joseph McFARLAND was the eldest son of Ralph and Margaret McFARLIND.
After his marriage in 1834, he and his wife lived in Belmont County,
Ohio, where they appeared in the 1840 census near his brother William
and not far from his mother, Margaret. By this time they had
five young
children—John, Eliza, Mary, Obediah, and Sarah. By 1850 they
had moved
to Monroe County, which borders Belmont on the south. By this
time the
family had grown by another five children—William, Marie, Catherine,
Amos, and Jesse. The next census year, 1860 found the family
living in
Washington County, which borders Monroe County to the south, near
Joseph's younger brother Amos. What information did Joseph leave
behind
in Monroe County?

Anna was born in

HAYES (HAYS), PHILLIPS (PHILIPS), MITCHELL, WOOD, GILLET
Searching for any and all connections to the following persons in and
around
Greene Co., PA and Monroe Co., OH. Nancy HAYES (HAYS), b. abt
1801 in VA
(probably in what is now WVA bordering PA and OH), d. 5/27/1874 in
Florence,
Marion Co., KS. She married Isaac PHILLIPS (PHILIPS) 12/7/1830 in Monroe
Co.,
OH (we think). Nancy's parents were Isaac HAYES and Mary MITCHELL .
Mary
MITCHELL, b. 1771-1774 in PA, d. 6/9/1854 in Monroe Co., OH.
Isaac and Mary
were married in 1800 in PA (we think). Mary had a brother James.
Apparently
Isaac died and Mary Remarried a man named GILLET. We think all of this
may
have occurred in or around Greene Co., PA, since we know there were
HAYS,
MITCHELL, and GILLET families there in the early 1800s. MARY
MITCHELL'S
mother was Hannah WOOD, whose father was Edward WOOD. Hannah's
sister. Sophia
WOOD, was the mother of Isaac HAYES, so Isaac HAYES and Mary MITCHELL
were 1st
cousins. We are interested in any information that ties to these lines.
