NIPPERT, Arthur Carl

Arthur Carl NIPPERT, of Switzerland Township, departed his life December 9, 1974 as he was preparing to attend church. He retired from farming over four years ago but remained living on the farm where he was born. Interested in the welfare of his neighbors, he put forth continuing time and effort to obtain rural electric and served as one of the first board of directors of Belmont Electric Cooperative, Inc., serving faithfully for a number of years. He was also, secretary of Switzer Fire Insurance for several years. Arthur Carl NIPPERT, youngest son of George and Elizabeth WALTERS Nippert, was born July 20,1901. He was baptised on the 8th day of June 1902 by Rev. C. G. Kettelhut, confirmed on April 20, 1919 by Rev. A. E. Kitterer and became a member of church. He served on consistory, sang in choir and quartet, and active and willing to help as long as health permitted. He was united in holy wedlock on Mother's Day May 11th, 1924 immediately following the morning worship service in a church ceremony ot Oma ISALY by Rev. H. G. Schuessler. He is survived by his wife and one sister, Mrs. Emma BAUER, of Carrollton, several neices and nephew and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were a daughter born June 10th, 1925, who died on her father's birthday July 20th; also, three brothers, Albert, Frank, and Harry, and a sister, Laura FANKHAUSER. Services were held at St. John's United Church of Christ, Powhaten Point, on December 12 at 1:30pm, with Pastor Kenneth Heasley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were by the Rush Funeral Home of Clarington.
Noll, David P.
David P. Noll was born in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pa., October 28, 1825, died April 21, 1899 of heart disease. He came to Hannibal May 5, 1849 and May 9, 1854 he was married at Ripley, Ohio, to Rebecca Patterson and located at this place where he had since resided. He was well known as an energetic and progressive citizen, having always unselfishly identified himself with the best interests of his town. The absence of his aid and council will be greatly regretted. The funeral services were held at the house Sunday April 23 and were conducted by Rev. L. B. Dear, who preached an eloquent and impressive sermon front the text: "For David after he had served his own generation by the will of God fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers." Acts 13-36. At the request of the deceased two sons and four grand-sons were his pall-bearers. The respect and esteem of his townspeople were beautifully expressed by appropriate floral tributes.

NORRIS, Lester

Lester Norris, age 74, of Canton, OH, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at Aultman Hospital. Born in Woodsfield, OH, to the late Clarence and Lorena (Baker) Norris. Lester worked for the Timken Company as a truck driver for 30 years before is retirement in 1989. Prior to his work at Timken, Lester served in the U.S. Army where he reached the rank of Private 1st Class and was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of the VFW and the McKinley Eagles 2370 and was also an avid fisherman. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Walton Norris; and two sisters, Ruth Huffman and Gennevive Price. Survivors include his loving wife of 21 years, Charlotte (McCray) Norris; son, Michael Norris; daughters, Karen (Tony) Bowers and Rhonda (Michael) Shaeffer; step-children, David (Linda) Riffle and Kaye (Chuck) Shackle; sister, Eva Jean (Donald) Brown; and grandsons, Michael and Gary Shaeffer; there are also six step - grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews surviving. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Ott and Pastor Doug Simpson officiating. Calling hours will be on Monday (today) from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
